Using a fill-in flash for landscapes can really improve some photographs. In the first photograph, a flash has lit up the foreground rocks. In the second photograph I wanted to light up the pencil pine by the lake – the flash did this nicely and produced an unexpected bonus, it lit up the sleet which was making me so cold while waiting for the dawn which didn’t happen.
Of course you need to be close enough to get any noticeable effect from the flash, in both of these photos my 10-22mm zoom lens was set at f10.
