Our third Icelandic word is the one for fiord. Today we travelled up the East Coast firdinums which were beautiful. Allegedly anyway, as we were in fog for most of the day. However we did see the bottom 10 metres of the highest mountain in the East. At some seaside cliffs we met our old friends from the Arctic – black guillemots. We call them flying penguins and it gave us a rare chance to sound knowledgable about birds to a few others on the cliffs.
We went to all of these places as we figured it would be quicker to go to them than to try to pronounce them.
The bottom one was a beautiful village with a French background. We accessed the middle one using a 6km tunnel through a mountain and we’re staying at the top one
