Horseshoe FallsI had to get up early to get to Horseshoe Falls this morning in order to beat the sun. Once the sun gets on a set of falls the contrasts get too great to handle. Nevertheless, photographing waterfalls still has its challenges. Most of the top photograph is OK, but the water is blown out (no detail, just white) and the shaded areas are also too black to record any detail. The solution is to take 2 more shots – the dark one is under-exposed to get some detail into the water and the light one is over-exposed to get some detail into the shadow areas. Then it’s back home to blend the three images into one using Photoshop. The result is the bottom image – I hope you like it.
